The State-by-State Permit Reality
There is no national oversized load permit. Every state has its own permit process, fee schedule, approved route designations, and enforcement practices. A shipment from Texas to Florida crosses 3 states, each with different permit applications, processing times (ranging from same-day to 10 business days), and travel restrictions. Permit applications must include accurate vehicle dimensions, weight, and often route-specific information.

Escort Requirements and Timing Windows
Most states require one or two escort vehicles for loads over 14 feet wide. Some require police escorts through certain jurisdictions. Many states restrict oversized movement during daylight hours on weekdays, requiring night delivery — which, in turn, requires coordination with your crane crew, site superintendent, and local utility companies (for overhead line clearance during module placement).
